Happy #OGDay to everyone.

Craig Scott, aka The Phenom, has surprisingly taken the Baltimore area musically within a matter of weeks. Not years, not months, but two weeks. With the recent release of his mixtape, Phenomenal (the Movie), he’s caught the attention of many people. So many people, that in fact he was even thrown in a poll into local 92Q Jams website for the best local rappers. I caught up with the Phenom and asked him a few questions about his quick support and recent mixtape release.

Who is “The Phenom”?

I’m Craig Mack aka The Phenom aka whatever niggas call me that day. I’m from Baltimore the greatest city in America. I enjoy long walks on the beach with phat butt bitches with names with more than 3 syllables. (Laughing) Sike nah tho, I’m just a trill young nigga who’s nice at this rap shit.

What or who inspired you as an artist?

I have a lot of family that are heavy in the Baltimore hip-hop scene. My nigga DJ Jabril, my nigga Billo, and my big bro Mike Malachi who pretty much put me on to rap since I’ve been young enough to remember, so yeah I had some broad footsteps to follow behind. I listen to a lot of 90s Hip-Hop.Nas, Jay, Pac, Big, Big L, A Tribe Called Quest. A lot of people have told me they hear the Q-Tip in me when I rap but fuck it, I just bump that real shit and it shows in my music.

How long did it take to throw Phenomenal together?

I started working on Phenomenal in about, June of 2011 thats when I first made Street Fighter with the lil homie Jay Verze.. between then and November when i actually dropped it I went through about 14 different tracklists, but then I finally got it together, hit the stu recorded that whole shit in 2 days and we put it out.

What separates your self from the rest of the artists in the game?

Easy, the grind. Niggas can’t match my hustle. I’m always writing, I’m always looking for inspiration, and alot of niggas can’t really understand my vision. I’m tryna recreate what niggas in my age group missed out on by being to young to appreciate the golden era of what hip hop really is today in the 90s. You can’t go to the club today and compare the music you hear to hearing Big Poppa or I Get Around in the club and balling out and buying the whole fuckin bar on some fuck it shit, I want that feeling back for my generation.

The first mixtape, Phenomenal (The Movie) received crazy feedback, especially for it being your first project. Did this take you by surprise?

Hell yeah. I mean I was expecting a bunch of  ”It’s okay.” or “That nigga cool but im not fuckin with him” especially because of where I’m from. In Baltimore alot of people love to put you down. So getting on Twitter and seeing my own punchlines on my timeline and niggas saying  yeah I put out a quality product was really gratifying.  Humbling actually.

How did you feel when you name was thrown into a poll for one of the best Baltimore rappers?

Caught me by pure surprise. My mans just hit me up like yo go check the 92q poll your name on that bitch I’m like… Yeah tho. I mean it was nothing truly special but now im out to show niggas I deserved that title.

Future projects?

Hell Yeah. The Movie II : Return Of The Mack coming in 2012, the first cut niggas will hear off that joint is dropping on Black Friday. Look out for that trill shit, satisfaction guaranteed.

Check out the Phenomenal, the Movie after the jump and stay tuned with us with his new track on Black Friday.

The day we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived. OGDC has finally set up a release date for their brand new ,”Just Do It OG” t-shirts, slated for this Black Friday or better known as, #OGDay. The slight sneak peek above shown on Instagram had people going nuts.

See you on #OGDay.

Oh my do I have a special treat for you today. Recently, rumors have been flying around about the Nike Air Mag, or better known as the Marty McFly’s. Nike did a similiar tribute to these famed shoes back in 2008, with a released featured with Los Angeles Lakers own Kobe Bryant. But today, Tinker Hatfield announced that those shoes, have actually been produced, and will go on sale. It is a limited release, only 1500 pairs in circulation. The auctions begin tonight, and for 10 days straight, Nike will auction off 150 pairs of this shoe, ending September 18th. You can try your luck at nikemag.ebay.com, although the site is not active just yet. All profits will go to the Micheal J. Fox foundation, which is solely focused on finding a cure for Parkinsons disease. There are some slight changes made to accommodate comfortability located in the ankle in forefoot. One charge can keep the shoe illuminated for 5 hours straight, all though there is no power lacing system. Check out the video and some photos after the jump.

Considered one of the most sought after shoes by sneakerheads, the Nike Foamposite Max, also known as the Tim Duncans, will be re-released at the end of the month of September, the 30th to be exact. The foamposite technology from the 90′s is the equivalent to the FlyWire technology used in most shoes today. These shoes will surely fly off the shelves, be sure to cop your pair.

OG, we've all heard this term before. Whether it refers to that hustler or pimp that's been on a block forever slanging dope or pimpin the neighborhood whores, or those Jordans that had Nike Air on the back instead of the jumpman symbol that have yet to be undeadstocked. But this "OG" is different. It refers to something created by two individuals Malcolm and Kyle, who decided to create simple, but powerful, clothing line. Their unofficial release of a t-shirt entitled with the simple words "Just Do it OG" created a whirlwind of buzz within the DMV area. They're also the geniuses behind originaldc.com, a website that keeps people updated with the newest Jordan and Nike releases, as well as music from the Delorean Music Group. I recently caught up with Malcolm and got the chance to ask him some questions about the OG movement.

Living Legend: What is OG? Why the name OG, and who runs OG?

Original DC: OG is what we use to abbreviate the site originaldc, its also what we try to pay homage to with what we do. Kyle and myself (Malcolm) run Original DC, and The Original District as a whole.

LL: What made you decide that this is what you want to do?

OGDC: It was just always what I was into, when I was growing up all I was concerned with really was music and basketball, whether it was the newest pair, or the players on the court. Bringing a website together with Kyle where we can attempt to provide insight on that and more was a dream come true. With me and Kyle being friends since we were like in 6th grade us coming together to this was just like us hooping together all those days, just do it, no pun intended.

LL: What can we expect from OG? what does OG exactly do?

OGDC: First up you can definitely expect a couple more items from our spring line which we have on the way in addition to the two “Just Do It OG”, a couple of appearances at sneaker related events in the DMV we got lined up, along with new music from the artists we sponsor. That’s Valleo, Nova, Prince Akeem, and Nike Nando, or you might know them as DMG (Delorean Music Group).

LL: I’ve heard that you guys actually sold out of an unreleased product. what was the feeling like? does it feel like your doing something right? do you guys feel like y’all are on to something big?

OGDC: It didn’t set in at first for a minute, it was really overwhelming though like we expected a good amount of support but when we sold out, it just reassured for Kyle and myself that all the hard work was going to hopefully pay off. I think it was then when I knew this was what I wanted to do.

LL: Where do you find inspiration for this line?

OGDC: Every time I look at a Michael Jordan game, or a picture of Lil Penny and Penny Hardaway, or a Mars Blackmon ad, or a pair of OG jays one of my friends might have from back in the day. Days when the shoe game was different than it is now.

LL: I’ve also heard that Michael Jordan is your favorite basketball player. what makes him your fav? his stats, the way he plays, his humility, what is it?

OGDC: I think it’s the fact that he never took no for an answer. If Jordan wanted to dunk on you, he was going to do it, no questions asked. I think he embodied the definition of the term “killer instinct” and brought to the game of basketball an attitude you should attack every project you involve yourself with. Not to mention that he won 6 NBA championships, finals MVP in all of em, all the while having the most successful basketball signature shoe line, I mean I could go on and on.

LL: Speaking of Jordans, the site you run, originaldc.com keeps people up to date on all of the latest Jordan and Nike releases. what made you decide to do that? why keep people informed on the release dates?

OGDC: I mean through out the DMV there are a lot of people that are into shoes, but might not know where to go to find dates for releases or stuff of that sort, and with Kyle and myself both being into kicks from a young age it was second nature to us. We just wanted to keep other people in the loop as well.

OGDC has been working, hard. New products are expected to release sometime this summer. Soon enough, while of everyone scraping and searching to find some OG White Cement 4′s, they’ll be searching for these classics as well. Stay tuned.

Check out some of the photos from their unreleased t-shirt, “Just Do It OG.”

Last summer arguably one of the best albums of 2010, Thank Me Later by Drake was released. Even though it leaked about two weeks before the release, the star studded cameo line-up included some of the best in the game. Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, The Dream, Swizz Beatz, and T.I. just to name a few. The album was played everywhere you can think of, clubs, iPod’s, and cars all around the nation. He created a signature style of his own, harmonizing his vocals and then switching up to his flow within a heartbeat. He and labelmate Nicki MInaj held down Young Money while the CEO, Lil Wayne, was in jail on weapons charges. So where can find Drake now? Not in Toronto, but in “Marvin’s Room”, in which his latest single was allegedly recorded and produced in the studio where the legendary Marvin Gaye recorded.  This single has already produced two big remixes to it, one by the singer Jojo, the other by Teyana Taylor. His sophomore album entitled Take Care, is expected to release October 24th. So is it safe to thank Drake for all that he’s done? One just might think so.

CJ The Genesis recently dropped yet another single from his highly anticipated project, Impulse. As the post is titled, its called I Can Do It Too, and he certainly proved that in his video. The video concept is simple, as it includes numerous cameos of Arizona Iced Tea, which by the way caught their attention on Twitter. Impulse is slated to drop June 24th, so stay tuned.

TheLivingLegend is back at it again. Recently purchased MacBook Pro is prepared and ready. Daily posts are back and promised. Stay tuned.

I’ll be taking a slight hiatus from now until about May or June. Gotta buckle down and get this last quarter of high school and last semester of high school. There may be a few posts here and there, but nothing too serious.

And I’ll be getting a MacBook soon, so I’ll be for sure keeping you up to date on the latest mixtapes and shoe releases for sure daily, so be sure to stay tuned.
